Clinical Architecture started the COVID-19 Interoperability Alliance to create a place to share value sets for clinical, demographic, and administrative concepts relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of the alliance is to provide resources (free of charge) to anyone in the healthcare community that can leverage them to identify, understand, and monitor COVID-19 information patterns. Data Augmentation for COVID-19 Test Results: Verato is partnering with HIE customers to enable the routing of COVID-19 test results through Verato in an effort to improve mapping of these test results which are often thinly populated; especially from drive-thru testing sites. The Verato results allow an HIE to identify the overlap between their existing patient population and the COVID-19 test results. HIEs also retrieve additional contact information from Verato’s person reference database which includes data about 350M Americans and 30 years of demographic history. This contact data is not guaranteed to be accurate or timely however can reliably be used to help enrich current COVID-19 data to assist in follow-up.
On Demand Infectious Disease Registry for HIEs: Verato is establishing an On Demand Infectious Disease Registry that will collect, store, and organize key information about infectious disease patients including lab result details, patient under investigation (PUI) identifiers, and patient demographics. Via this registry, patients can be matched to any other of their test results, no matter where or when they were tested. When on-boarding test results, HIE participant can be alerted to a match from other HIE participant systems in real time while also seeding the data needed for future reporting and analytics. Verato HIE customers can leverage existing connectivity to participate; non-customer HIEs can be connected very quickly.
Stella Technology has been working with member HIEs on several analytic, reporting and monitoring initiatives to support local, regional, and state public health agencies in their fight against COVID-19. More specifically, through Stella Prism’s #agileanalytics and Google-like search capabilities, HIEs are responding to rapidly evolving requests from government agencies around activities such as high risk patients identification, public health surveillance and alerting, as well as hospital capacity planning to help manage utilization. If there is anything we can do to share learnings or provide similar support to your community, please reach out to Salim Kizaraly at salim@stellatechnology.com.
NeHII Launches a Comprehensive COVID-19 Alerts and Reporting Solution to Support Pandemic Response Efforts
The Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NeHII) teamed up with two national health information technology companies to launch the COVID-19 Alerts and Reporting solution to help healthcare organizations and medical professionals to prevent and manage the epidemic spread.
The comprehensive application provides numerous dashboards, reports and alerts around bed management, risk stratification, utilization, social distancing, and laboratory to support the diverse use cases. Due to the critical nature of monitoring laboratory testing, uniquely commercial laboratories and public health laboratories send results to one company (4medica®) to normalize and match to the right patient identity. The validated data is then submitted to another partner company (KPI Ninja) to analyze and share with the appropriate front-line providers, public health agencies and patients. As a result, this program puts real-time information in the hands of first responders, hospitals, health systems, medical practices, ACOs, and public health agencies that need the data insights to make informed decisions mobilizing people and facilities to care for the growing number of cases in the state. “The COVID-19 Lab Alerts and Reporting Solution augments our HIE to report accurate, knowledge-based data that informs life-saving decisions and community emergency prevention efforts at a time of unprecedented need,” said Jaime Bland, NEHII CEO. More information on this innovative work is available from the press release, solution overview or webinar.
Orion Health have developed a comprehensive pandemic outbreak monitoring platform to alleviate demand on health systems and curb the spread of COVID-19. Its core functionality includes remote patient monitoring and engaging with patients in their homes. This facilitates improved communication between quarantined people and the healthcare service and maintains visibility of those recently discharged.
Part of the solution includes a global website designed to support and assess the different clinical protocols, health systems and conditions that are present globally. The site provides a regionally configurable online symptom-checker and a background calculation of patient risk.
As the COVID – 19 pandemic continues to grow in severity, real-time reporting and analysis is critical. With support from IMAT, our clients are focused on three areas of reporting specific to COVID – 19.
To address the challenge of evolving clinical codes IMAT will be maintaining a centralized collection of all required clinical codes as they are identified. Updates will be published through IMAT Sets. Leveraging Sets, clients can update all queries, reports, and data extracts with the latest clinical codes in a matter of minutes.
DSS has updated its company policy to address the outbreak of COVID-19. DSS will extend paid sick leave to cover any additional sick leave employees need during quarantine and or recuperation. We are encouraging our employees to stay home if they are ill. All non-essential air-travel is eliminated. DSS will allow all employees to work from home through March 29th or until further notice. If we have an outbreak of COVID-19 in one of our offices, we will immediately close the office for 14 days and have all non-essential employees work at home. DSS will continue to support its customers without interruption.
Diameter Health technology creates consolidated Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs). As a result, physicians can find the clinical data they need, when they need it, and make informed care decisions more quickly.
Operational today at KONZA and OHIP/Clinisync, the consolidated CCD provides a view of patient conditions, medications, and other clinical data points. Frequently duplicated information (e.g. Medications) is displayed once. Information is re-organized to appear in the correct clinical section. For example, a flu shot documented as a Procedure appears in within Immunizations in the consolidated CCD.
